Manmori is a small workshop dedicated to crafting wooden weapons for the practice of budo, and especially Aikido.

Each piece is created with a simple idea in mind: a training weapon should be reliable, well balanced, and comfortable to use over time.

The approach of the workshop is rooted in martial arts practice and in a constant search for harmony between movement, intention, and material. The shapes are inspired by traditional models, but are also gradually refined to respond to the real needs of practitioners.

The workshop is located in the Périgord region of France, in a natural environment. The weapons are produced in small batches or made to order, using carefully selected European hardwoods.

The choice of materials naturally led to French woods such as ash and beech. Their strength and resilience make it possible to create reliable weapons able to withstand regular practice while maintaining a reasonable weight. This balance is essential: a weapon that is too heavy tires the practitioner unnecessarily and can affect the quality of the movement. Well-balanced weapons, on the other hand, allow practice with precision, safety and confidence.

Some pieces are also made from service tree wood (cormier), a rarer and denser French species. Its fine structure and solidity give these weapons a distinctive character, appreciated for their feeling in the hand.

Each bokken, jo, or tanto is shaped step by step: forming the lines, refining the balance, sanding carefully along the grain of the wood, and finally protecting the surface with several coats of oil. This manual process allows the weapon to develop a natural balance and a direct connection with the material.

Rather than multiplying models, Manmori focuses on offering coherent weapons designed for real dojo practice: simple, durable, and alive in the hands of the practitioner.
