Description

Martial use

The bokken is one of the primary weapons used in Aikido practice, particularly in Aiki-ken training.

Thanks to its balanced proportions and responsive handling, this model is suitable both for fundamental practice and for more fluid and dynamic work.

Its moderate weight allows good responsiveness while limiting fatigue during regular training.

Manufacturer’s note

This bokken was designed with the idea of creating a simple, balanced and comfortable weapon for everyday practice.

Its proportions seek a balance between stability, fluidity and precision, allowing the movement to develop naturally without excessive inertia or unnecessary lightness.

The European ash used in its construction offers a good compromise between strength, flexibility and lightness. Its fibrous structure absorbs the stresses of regular martial practice efficiently while maintaining a reasonable weight.

Like all Manmori wooden weapons, this bokken is entirely shaped and finished by hand in our workshop in the Périgord region of France using traditional tools, in order to achieve a natural balance, a refined finish and a genuine connection with the material.

Would you like these weapons to be engraved?

Engravings on bokken and jo are made by hand using traditional wood burning (pyrography). We can transcribe your first and last name into Japanese katakana.

You may also choose to have kanji (Japanese characters) engraved.

The inscriptions are made vertically:

– On bokken, the engraving follows the direction from the tip toward the handle and is usually placed on the blade just above the guard.

– On jo, the engraving is placed at the center of the staff.

Once you have made your choice in the dropdown menu, please enter the text to be engraved in the “Engraving text” field.

I am delighted with my Aikido bokken! The ash wood has a beautiful, warm grain, the surface is exceptionally smooth, and the overall shape is elegant and harmonious.

The finishing is precise and carefully executed, and you can clearly see the attention that comes from hand craftsmanship. Thank you, Bernard, for this wonderful bokken.

  2. Hervé

I had already purchased a beech wood Aikido bokken from Manmori and have always been very happy with it.

I decided to treat myself to this ash wood version, and I have no regrets—in fact, I prefer it. The balance and handling are just as excellent, but the wood has a stronger character and a unique presence of its own.
